Day 3.

Excursion to the Caucasus Mountains

Zhinvali Dam

The Zhinvali Dam is located in the middle of the Aragvi River. It is one of the most beautiful places in Georgia, attracting many tourists. In addition to generating electricity, the Zhinvali Hydroelectric Power Station plays an important role in supplying water to Tbilisi.

Ananuri Fortress

Ananuri Fortress is a feudal-era fortress (16th-18th centuries). It is located at the head of the Zhinvali Dam. Ananuri Fortress played a significant role in numerous wars and has never been stormed. Today, it is a key tourist destination in Georgia.

Gudauri View Point

The next stop is a panoramic viewpoint at the mountaintop, the Friendship of Nations Arch. Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the Gudauri ski resort and the Jvari Pass, the monument is a large circular structure made of stone and concrete overlooking the Devil’s Valley in the Caucasus Mountains.

Gergeti Trinity Church

We’ll arrive in Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) via the Cross Pass, located at an altitude of 2,379 meters above sea level, and ascend the mountain to the Gergeti Trinity Church. Of all the churches in Europe located in the alpine zone, the Gergeti Trinity Church stands at the highest point – 2,200 meters.

Day 4.

Jvari, Stalin Museum in Gori, Uplistsikhe, Svetitskhoveli

Jvari Monastery

Jvari Monastery (6th century) is located on a mountaintop at the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers near Mtskheta. The mountain offers stunning views of Mtskheta and the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers.

Stalin Museum

The Stalin Museum in Gori has three sections, all located in the central district of Gori. The exhibition features many items that actually or presumably belonged to Stalin, including some furniture from his offices and gifts. The museum features a personal railway carriage of Stalin.

Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe is one of the rarest monuments in the world, an ancient cave city and one of the first cities in Georgia. The city arose in the late 2nd and early 1st millennia BC. At its peak, Uplistsikhe included over 700 caves and cave structures, of which only 150 remain today.

Svetitskhoveli

Svetitskhoveli is the patriarchal cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church in honor of the Twelve Apostles, built in 1010-1029, on the site of Georgia’s first Christian church, erected over the grave of St. Sidonia, buried with the chiton of Jesus Christ taken from Jerusalem.

Day 5.

Excursion to Kakheti

Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking

You will visit the KTW – “Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking” winery, where you will taste several varieties of wine and, if desired, you can purchase several bottles of wine.

Tone

On the way to Sighnaghi, we will stop in the village of Badiauri, where we will see how Kakhetian “Mama’s Bread” is baked in a tone and taste local cheese.

Bodbe monastery

Arrival at the Bodbe Monastery – the nunnery of the Bodbinsky diocese of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The Georgian Orthodox monastery complex, originally built in the 9th century, was extensively rebuilt, especially in the 17th century. Currently, the monastery functions as a convent and is one of the main places of pilgrimage in Georgia due to its association with St. Nino, a 4th-century Georgian evangelist whose relics are kept here. This is a beautiful place indeed – from here there is a wonderful view of Alazani valley.

Sighnaghi. 6-Day Georgia Tour

Sighnaghi – the City of Love, is located on terraces connected by winding steep streets. Despite being one of the smallest towns in Georgia, Sighnaghi is a popular tourist destination due to its location in the heart of Georgia’s wine regions, as well as picturesque scenery, pastel-colored houses and narrow cobbled streets. Situated on a steep hill, Sighnaghi towers over the vast Alazani Valley, and the Caucasus Mountains can be seen in the distance.

At the end of the excursion day, a Kakhetian feast with wine awaits you.

We will return to Tbilisi in the evening.
