8-Day Georgia Trip – from Tbilisi to Batumi

8-Day Georgia Trip includes arrival in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, and then a trip to the west of the country, towards Batumi. Along the way, you will visit a picturesque canyon, a cave, the capital of ancient Colchis — Kutaisi and, finally, Batumi, one of the pearls of Georgia.

Day 1.
Meeting at Tbilisi International Airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2.

Sightseeing tour of the historic part of Tbilisi

Old Tbilisi

You will visit: Metekhi Plateau, The “Mother of Georgians” monument, Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi Mosque, Abanotubani, Meidan, Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Church, Tbilisi State Puppet Theater, Bridge of Peace.

Day 3.

Excursion to the Caucasus Mountains to the Trinity Church in Gergeti

Zhinvali Dam

The Zhinvali Dam is located in the middle of the Aragvi River. It is one of the most beautiful places in Georgia, attracting many tourists. In addition to generating electricity, the Zhinvali Hydroelectric Power Station plays an important role in supplying water to Tbilisi.

Ananuri Fortress

Ananuri Fortress is a feudal-era fortress (16th-18th centuries). It is located at the head of the Zhinvali Dam. Ananuri Fortress played a significant role in numerous wars and has never been stormed. Today, it is a key tourist destination in Georgia.

Gudauri View Point

The next stop is a panoramic viewpoint at the mountaintop, the Friendship of Nations Arch. Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the Gudauri ski resort and the Jvari Pass, the monument is a large circular structure made of stone and concrete overlooking the Devil’s Valley in the Caucasus Mountains.

Gergeti Trinity Church

We’ll arrive in Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) via the Cross Pass, located at an altitude of 2,379 meters above sea level, and ascend the mountain to the Gergeti Trinity Church. Of all the churches in Europe located in the alpine zone, the Gergeti Trinity Church stands at the highest point – 2,200 meters.

We will return to Tbilisi in the evening.

Day 4.

Jvari Monastery, Uplistsikhe, Stalin Museum, Kutaisi

Jvari Monastery (6th century) is located on a mountaintop at the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers near Mtskheta. The mountain offers stunning views of Mtskheta and the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers.

Uplistsikhe

Uplistsikhe is one of the rarest monuments in the world, an ancient cave city and one of the first cities in Georgia. The city arose in the late 2nd and early 1st millennia BC. At its peak, Uplistsikhe included over 700 caves and cave structures, of which only 150 remain today.

Stalin Museum

The Stalin Museum in Gori has three sections, all located in the central district of Gori. The exhibition features many items that actually or presumably belonged to Stalin, including some furniture from his offices and gifts. The museum features Stalin’s personal railway carriage.

Kutaisi

Kutaisi is Georgia’s third-largest city by population, traditionally the second most important after the capital Tbilisi. Kutaisi was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Colchis. It is believed that in the Argonautica, the Greek epic poem about Jason and the Argonauts and their voyage to Colchis, the author, Apollonius of Rhodes, considered Kutaisi to be his final destination.

Day 5.

Bagrati Cathedral, Prometheus Cave, Martvili Canyon, Batumi

Bagrat Cathedral

The Bagrat Cathedral was built in Kutaisi during the reign of Bagrat III as the main cathedral of the united Georgian Kingdom and consecrated in honor of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in 1003. Majestic in size and proportions, the cathedral marked a fundamentally new era in the history of Transcaucasian architecture, was lavishly decorated with carvings and mosaics, and played a crucial role in the medieval history of Georgia.

Prometheus Cave

Prometheus Cave is a karst cave in western Georgia. There are 22 halls found, where just 6 halls are open for tourists. It is possible to walk through the length of 1420 meters in the cave’s territory visit the halls and enjoy boat tour by walking the river. Prometheus Cave may regard as the visit card of Georgia. The magic cave is full with stunning curtains of stalactites and stalagmites. While visiting, once again it will convince you about existence of the fairy world.

Martvili Canyon

Martvili Canyon is located in the Martvili Municipality. The 700-meter-long, stone-paved circular trail starts from the Martvili Canyon Visitor Center and crosses the historic Dadiani Trail. There are two bridges, three observation platforms, and a historic 30-step staircase constructed from large limestone boulders. Visitors can enjoy a 300-meter boat ride along the Abasha River and stunning views of the mountain river canyon.

In the evening we will arrive in Batumi and check into the hotel.

Day 7.

This 60-hectare garden presents thousands of species of native and exotic flora in all their splendor.

In the evening we will return to Tbilisi and check into the hotel.

Day 8.
Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport.

The tour price is per person, based on double occupancy for a group of 6 or more people.
Payment can also be made in US dollars at the appropriate exchange rate.

The price includes: accommodation in 4-star hotels with breakfast in Old Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi; entrance tickets to Uplistsikhe, the Stalin Museum, Prometheus Cave, and Martvili Canyon; the fee for ascent of the mountain to the Church of the Holy Trinity in Gergeti, services of a private guide throughout the tour, driver services and all transfers as per the program.

Note: The price does not include a boat ride to Prometheus Cave and Martvili Canyon, which costs 20 lari (approximately 7 euros).
The price does not include meals (lunch and dinner), which cost approximately 12-15 euros per person.
